The only reason this resides in My Music is because of an error; when actually looking to download Monolith’s debut release, I clicked on this instead. Alcohol will do things like that.
In Mourning’s Monolith was a surprise. Not because it was amazing, but because I couldn’t remember a more solid sounding death metal release in the immediate past. Particularly impressive is The Smoke; with a bit of a build up, this track does indeed ‘smoke’.
The problem with a ‘solid’ album is its very limited ability to be replayed. With nothing remarkable to set it apart, this modern take on death metal is tastily swallowed, but just as easily digested and spat out. Solid, but lacking.
